About us
Mental Health First Aid courses are organised by the Ligue Santé Mentale asbl, which holds a Mental Health First Aid International licence.
The MHFA (Mental Health First Aid) International licence is an Australian certification awarded to non-profit organisations able to meet various quality, sustainability and comprehensiveness criteria.
The Mental Health First Aid courses were developed in Australia by Betty Kitchener and Prof. Tony Jorm, two Australian mental health experts. Betty Kitchener is a trainer who suffers from mental health problems. Tony Jorm is a mental health researcher. Their goal was to empower anyone to support a loved one experiencing a mental health crisis or struggling with a mental disorder. Since their first training course in 2000, 30 countries have adapted the courses to their own context and over 8 million people have now been trained worldwide.
